Synapses

In the #nervous systems, a "synapse" works like a bridge between two #neurons, to pass #signals, so that neurons #communicate with one another. In the brain's functions, especially for "#memory" synapses are crucial.

I painted "#Synapses" after my unforgettable visit to The Beautiful #Brain: Drawings of Santiago Ramon y #Cajal. Cajal was not only the founder of #modern neuroscience, but also an avid #artist whose exceptional #drawings beautifully illustrated the #details of brain structure. His drawings have inspired scientists to acquire artistic-scientific #images, using developing technologies in microscopes and imaging softwares and processing, to elaborate on the #complexity of the brain structure and functions.

Only after I was done with the #painting, I realized that I pictured my #mental image of the brain synapses ... the #conjunctions, the gaps, the #domains, the cells and the #circuits.
